Copenhagen, Denmark

Welcome to Denmark!

Our First Port-of-call was Copenhagen.

Our excursion for the day was a bus tour of Copenhagen. Sami took control of the map to see exactly where she wanted to go.

Our first stop was the statue of the Little Mermaid

The statue was much smaller than I had anticipated, but it was nice to look at. Statues aren't really Sami's thing, so here is what SHE was doing while we were admiring the Little Mermaid:
I don't exactly know WHAT she was doing here, but the face makes me laugh!
"I think I can climb this thing!"

Next, we went by the Royal Palace. One of many Palaces on our trip.

After our tour around the Palace grounds, we went on a nice, relaxing canal tour. It was perfect weather for a boat tour! We were all smiles!

Canal tour points of interest:

Cool Tower                                       Opera House

Spiral staircase to nowhere :)                                                           Another cool tower

This building was used to fix ships during war time. They just drove the ships right in the center to dock. Now they have been renovated into upscale housing. Pretty cool use of the building!

Toward the end of our canal tour we came across this statue of a bear. The story goes, on a foggy night, a policeman noticed people loitering near the pier. The policeman yelled at the person repeatedly to identify themselves. Instead the person seemed to be coming closer. The policeman was forced to take aim and shoot 2 times. Turns out, it wasn't a person at all, but this statue... If you look close you can see the two bullet holes.

I don't know why this story tickled me so much, but it made me laugh the whole day!

For lunch, we had some time to spend at Tivoli Gardens, a mini-amusement park. We had just enough time to enjoy the grounds, Mark and I rode one of the rides, and lunch with a local beer. It would have been nice to spend a little more time there!

Back on the ship, we got ready for formal night. It was fun to dress up.

This is what our ship looked like at night (I didn't take this picture!)

After dinner every night, the highlight was taking Sami to the Centrium where they had live music. She would have stayed there dancing all night if we would have let her.

The only thing more fun for Sami than dancing, was to come back to the room and find little pets waiting just for her. This night it was a doggy.

An adorable ending the the day.
