Stockholm, Sweden

Our second day in port was spent in Stockholm, Sweden. Our sightseeing started even before we left the ship. All along the water there were little islands- what seemed like 100's of them!

Our first stop in port was Stockholm City Hall. The inside of the building were beautiful gilded walls which depicted the entire history of Stockholm.

We posed for pictures just outside

Of course, we had to have a few of just being tourists!

Just some of the sights we could see around Stockholm.

Our second stop on land was the Vasa Museum. Now, Mark can tell the story better than I can, but the rescue of this ship was amazing. It took years and years to preserve it as you see in the pictures. They built a whole museum around it.
A view from the outside. The masts on top are not the real masts of the ship, they just depict what is in the museum.

Just some of the detail of the actual ship inside

It was all too much for Sami, she had to lay down and take a break!

I don't know what building this was outside the Vasa, but it was very pretty.

Before heading back to the ship, we were able to have some free time downtown. Good thing too, we were hungry.
What do you eat when you are in Sweden?  Swedish meatballs of course!

We passed the Nobel Museum, but did not get a chance to go in

On the streets of Stockholm. The cobblestone streets were a mini-massage for Sami when she was sitting in the stroller.

As we walked, we came across this statue in a secluded little park-like area. It is the smallest statue in Stockholm, less than a foot high. People say that it is a reminder to keep things clear of clutter, rooms, minds, and lives.

While we were waiting for our tour bus, we were able to watch the changing of the guards. It was amazing to see all of the pomp and circumstance that went along with it.

Did I mention that we ended up missing our tour bus? Good thing there was another one from our ship. We were able to hitch hike back with them! Lucky us.
